Job Summary:
The University of Tulsa is seeking a Network Engineer to facilitate connectivity and networking for various technologies used by researchers. The role includes managing cybersecurity for research equipment, addressing networking issues, and collaborating with IT professionals on infrastructure management.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate connectivity and networking for robotics, sensors, computing, and automation technologies acquired and used by investigators at the institutes.
• Manage and address issues with the physical and cyber security of research equipment and devices as needed.
• Broker open communication and problem solving with University IT, physical plant, and other on-campus and external professionals, to address networking and computing infrastructure installation and management issues as they arise.
• Manage a virtual infrastructure environment that runs Ubiquiti, Proxmox, VMware, Free Nas.
• Work with researchers and software developers to facilitate the development and demonstration of deliverables.
• Be available to respond to incidents in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Have significant understanding of Linux systems, along with balancing large compute jobs and resources for AI and ML based projects.
• Have significant understanding of Docker, Bash, Python, slurm, Nvidia-smi, Gitlab/Github, Wireshark.
• Ability to work under limited supervision.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
• Bachelor’s Degree in CS/IT or engineering discipline.
• Three years industry experience with IT, networking and/or automation platforms.
• Previous work experience in a university setting.
• Cybersecurity experience or certification.
• Demonstrate effectiveness in working with a variety of administrative levels and diverse groups of people located both internally and externally to the institution.
Preferred:
• Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering.
