Position Summary

The IT Manager is responsible for leading the company's information technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, business systems, and technology integration initiatives. This role serves as the primary liaison between the company and its third-party Managed Service Provider (MSP), ensuring technology solutions support operational excellence, scalability, and acquisition integration objectives.


As a key member of the corporate team, the IT Manager will partner with Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and executive leadership to develop and execute a technology roadmap that supports rapid growth through both organic expansion and acquisitions. The position requires a blend of strategic planning, vendor management, project leadership, and hands-on problem solving.


This role has no direct reports but is accountable for managing all third-party IT vendors and ensuring service levels, security standards, and technology investments aligning with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

IT Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and maintain the company's technology roadmap.
  • Align technology investments with business growth objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, automation, reporting, and scalability.
  • Present technology recommendations and budgets to executive leadership.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Managed Service Provider (MSP) Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the outsourced IT provider.
  • Establish and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Review helpdesk performance, response times, and issue resolution metrics.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with vendors.
  • Ensure vendors deliver services consistent with contractual commitments.
  • Escalate and resolve critical technology issues.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Lead the company's cybersecurity strategy and compliance efforts.
  • Coordinate vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Manage endpoint protection, email security, backup systems, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure implementation of multi-factor authentication and security best practices.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity training and awareness programs.
  • Manage incident response planning and recovery efforts.
  • Maintain cybersecurity insurance requirements and controls.

Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Oversee network, server, cloud, telecommunications, and mobile device environments.
  • Ensure reliability and performance of all business-critical systems.
  • Manage Microsoft 365, Azure, and related cloud platforms.
  • Standardize hardware and software across all locations.
  • Develop lifecycle replacement plans for technology assets.

Mergers & Acquisitions Integration

  • Lead all IT due diligence activities for acquisitions.
  • Assess cybersecurity, infrastructure, software, and technology risks of acquisition targets.
  • Develop integration plans and budgets.
  • Standardize systems, policies, and processes across acquired companies.
  • Coordinate email migrations, network integration, data migration, and system consolidation efforts.
  • Ensure seamless onboarding of newly acquired businesses.

Technology Governance

  • Develop and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Manage software licensing and compliance.
  • Maintain technology documentation and disaster recovery plans.
  • Establish technology standards across all operating companies.
  • Ensure data governance and information security standards are followed.

Budget & Vendor Management

  • Develop and manage annual IT budgets.
  • Negotiate contracts with technology vendors.
  • Monitor technology spending and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Evaluate ROI on technology investments.
  • Manage software renewals and subscription agreements along with MSP.

End User Support & Training

  • Coordinate end-user support services through the MSP.
  • Improve employee technology experience.
  • Develop user training programs for business applications.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Ensure field personnel have effective access to technology tools.
  • Ensure all users have correct software installed, licensed, and accessible across all locations.
  • Manage user provisioning, access controls, and permissions within business applications including ERP, project management, and HR systems.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes from an application access and IT provisioning standpoint.
  • Escalate and coordinate resolution of application-level issues with the appropriate vendor or internal subject matter expert; does not include ERP configuration, customization, or reporting development.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 5–10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience.
  • Experience managing third-party IT service providers.
  • Experience in construction, specialty contracting, industrial services, or field service organizations preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-location operations.
  • Experience integrating acquired companies strongly preferred.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and business systems administration.
