Job Description


The Information Technology (IT) Intern will assist the Administrative Services and IT Administrator with daily technology operations, troubleshooting, user support, cybersecurity awareness, hardware/software maintenance, and technology-related projects. The intern will work closely with the IT Administrator and other departments to support technology initiatives, maintain system functionality, and provide excellent customer service to internal/external staff.


Duties and Responsibilities


The following duties are representative of the responsibilities performed within this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive:

  • Provide technical support to employees for computer hardware, software, printers, phones, and basic network issues.
  • Assist with installation, setup, and maintenance of computer systems and peripheral equipment.
  • Support user account setup, password resets, and basic access management.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical issues and escalating concerns when needed.
  • Help maintain inventory of IT equipment and technology assets.
  • Assist with software updates, system maintenance, and technology projects.
  • Participate in cybersecurity awareness efforts and help reinforce security best practices.
  • Assist with documenting procedures, troubleshooting guides, and IT processes.
  • Support conference room technology and virtual meeting setups.
  • Participate in special projects related to technology improvements and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee, donor, and organizational information.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform all assigned duties in compliance with Lifeline policies, SOPs, HIPAA guidelines, and applicable regulations.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.


Training

iWELCOME, iLEAD, Annual cGMP, Annual Safety, Annual Human Resources (Sexual Harassment, Workplace Bullying, Diversity/Unconscious Bias) Customer Service, Blood Establishment Computer Systems, and all required departmental and interdepartmental training.


Qualifications

EDUCATION: Currently enrolled in a Technical School, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree program in: Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field preferred.

Working Conditions

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements, and pathogenic substances. This position will include repetitive action, such as typing. Constant viewing of computer monitors. Performance of this job could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens. Controlled room temperatures to maintain integrity of blood product collections. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.


Physical Requirements

Employee is required to stand, walk, sit for long periods of time (sedentary work); ability to type and view computer screens on a continual basis, requiring frequent short breaks (every 2-3 hours) for resting of eyes/extremities. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
