Job description

For more than a decade, Design West Technologies Inc. has served as a trusted partner to the Department of Defense (DoD), delivering mission-critical design engineering and rugged manufacturing solutions that protect our nation's warfighters. As we enter our next chapter, we are blending our deep-rooted defense heritage with a start-up culture designed to take advantage of the current DoD landscape. Operating out of our advanced facilities in Tustin, CA, we are seeking a dynamic IT Help Desk Specialist to provide technical support across our Windows-based environment.

This position will work closely with our Systems Administrator and Cybersecurity team member to support employees, computers, applications, accounts, printers, and other IT resources. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, communicates clearly, documents their work, and understands the importance of security in a regulated defense environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide in-person technical support for Windows 11 desktops, laptops, software, printers, peripherals, and other business equipment.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network connectivity, authentication, printing, and access-related issues.
• Configure, deploy, replace, move, and maintain desktop computers, monitors, printers, and related hardware.
• Install, configure, update, and remove approved software.
• Create, modify, and disable employee accounts during onboarding, role changes, and offboarding.
• Manage user access through Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365 GCC High, and Microsoft Intune.
• Assist users with password resets, multifactor authentication, account lockouts, email, Microsoft Office applications, and shared resources.
• Set up and manage printer accounts, printer access, drivers, queues, and related configurations.
• Respond to and document support requests through the company's internal ticketing system.
• Maintain accurate records of assigned computers, software, peripherals, and other IT assets.
• Follow cybersecurity, access-control, change-management, and approval procedures.
• Assist with workstation patching, endpoint management, software deployments, equipment refreshes, audits, and IT projects.
• Escalate advanced infrastructure, networking, or cybersecurity issues to the appropriate team member.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and provide occasional after-hours or weekend support.

REQUIRED SKILLS/TRAININGS:

• Two or more years of experience in IT support, desktop support, help desk, or a related position.
• Experience supporting Windows 11 computers in a business environment.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and endpoint-management tools.
• Experience troubleshooting computer hardware, software, printers, user accounts, and basic network connectivity.
• Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Security Clearance.

• Ability to work independently and as part of an IT and cybersecurity team.
• Ability to work fully on-site and provide on-call or after-hours support when required.
• Ability to lift, carry, and install equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Relevant practical experience may replace formal education requirements.

Preferred Skills/Training:

• Experience with Microsoft 365 GCC High and Microsoft Intune.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or another regulated environment.
• Familiarity with CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, controlled unclassified information, and least-privilege access, and RBAC.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft certifications, or equivalent technical training.
• Basic PowerShell, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and network troubleshooting knowledge.
