Job description

IT Business Analyst

The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical IT Business Analyst to join its IT Division. This position plays a key role in the Village's efforts to modernize systems and improve service delivery by connecting business needs with effective technology solutions. The IT Business Analyst supports efficient operations, streamlined workflows, and data-driven decision-making that benefits the organization.

In this role, the IT Business Analyst works closely with departments, IT leadership, and the Enterprise Systems Analyst to understand operational needs and translate them into clear business and technical requirements. Responsibilities include gathering and documenting requirements, analyzing workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and developing practical IT solutions.

The IT Business Analyst assists with project planning and coordination for small to medium technology initiatives, helping ensure projects are delivered on time and aligned with business needs. The role also supports enterprise reporting and analytics through the design and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and performance metrics using tools such as Power BI and SSRS. This role contributes to organizational modernization efforts through process automation, system integration, and the responsible exploration of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools. The position also plays an active role in system implementation and enhancement projects, including coordinating user acceptance testing, developing test plans, documenting results, and supporting successful system deployments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, along with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information for non-technical audiences. A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field is required, along with three to five years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or a related role. Preferred candidates will have experience supporting enterprise or ERP systems (Tyler Munis preferred), strong SQL and business intelligence skills (Power BI or SSRS), familiarity with integrations and workflow automation, and experience working in a complex, multi-department environment.

The anticipated starting salary for this position is between $91,421 - $97,000 depending on qualifications, with a full salary range of $91,421-$123,421. This role is exempt from overtime. The IT Business Analyst will work a 37.5-hour work week and will be offered a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, opportunities for professional development and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan.

This position offers a unique opportunity to join a collaborative, service-driven IT team that is directly shaping how technology is used to support Village operations. If you are passionate about using data, systems, and technology to solve real-world operational challenges and improve public service delivery, apply today!
