Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IT Automation & Platform Engineer based in Netherlands.

This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on transforming internal IT into a scalable, automated, and developer-friendly technology platform.
You will architect and operate the business systems ecosystem connecting SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, identity platforms, and collaboration tools.
The role combines business systems engineering, software development, automation, security, and IT operations rather than traditional IT support.
You will build APIs, integrations, internal tools, event-driven workflows, and self-service capabilities that improve how teams work globally.
You will also identify opportunities to introduce AI-powered workflows, from intelligent support assistants to automated ticket triage and knowledge retrieval.
Security and compliance are central to the role, including identity lifecycle management, Zero Trust practices, endpoint security, and audit readiness.
This fully remote position is ideal for an autonomous, people-focused engineer who enjoys solving complex operational problems through code and automation.

Accountabilities
  • Architect, administer, and continuously improve the internal business systems ecosystem, integrating platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, customer support, billing, HR, collaboration, and engineering tools.
  • Design reliable workflows and data synchronization processes across multiple SaaS platforms and business systems.
  • Build automation tooling and internal services using Python, Go, Bash, or comparable technologies rather than relying solely on SaaS configuration.
  • Develop internal CLI tools, automation services, dashboards, bots, and ChatOps integrations that improve IT and business operations.
  • Design and maintain API-driven integrations using REST and GraphQL APIs, OAuth, webhooks, SDKs, and integration frameworks.
  • Automate processes such as CRM workflows, customer and billing data synchronization, entitlement provisioning, onboarding, offboarding, and access management.
  • Create an internal "golden path" for employees and teams through self-service IT workflows, identity provisioning automation, and developer-friendly APIs for business systems.
  • Identify and implement AI-assisted and AI-driven solutions for internal support, knowledge retrieval, ticket triage, SaaS workflows, and operational data analysis.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for IT support, applying comprehensive root-cause analysis and maintaining a people-first approach to employee technology needs.
  • Operate and improve cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, supporting the underlying technology ecosystem and internal services.
  • Implement and administer endpoint security and device management solutions, including Mobile Device Management and enterprise password-management platforms.
  • Manage identity and access processes, including SSO, SAML, SCIM provisioning, identity lifecycle automation, and Zero Trust access controls.
  • Support security and compliance requirements and maintain operational alignment with frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR.
  • Conduct access reviews and continuously identify opportunities to strengthen security while maintaining an efficient employee experience.
  • Apply reliability engineering principles to internal IT services, establishing appropriate monitoring, service objectives, and operational practices.
  • Identify manual, inefficient, or error-prone processes and proactively design automated solutions to improve scalability and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in IT Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Systems Engineering, Platform Engineering, or a related discipline, including 3+ years in a senior role owning internal business systems and automation within a SaaS or technology environment.
  • Strong programming and scripting capabilities in Python, Go, and Bash, with the ability to build production-quality automation, integrations, and internal tooling.
  • Solid hands-on experience operating AWS and GCP environments, including technologies such as VPCs, IAM, EC2, and S3.
  • Strong API and integration engineering experience, including REST and GraphQL APIs, OAuth authentication flows, webhooks, SaaS SDKs, and integration frameworks.
  • Deep working knowledge of macOS and Linux environments.
  • Practical experience implementing and managing SSO, SAML, SCIM provisioning, identity lifecycle automation, and Zero Trust access models.
  • Experience supporting security and compliance programs or audits involving frameworks and regulations such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS architecture and the ability to design dependable integrations and data flows between business-critical platforms.
  • Experience working in remote-first or globally distributed environments is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven automation, including LLM APIs, AI copilots, semantic search, knowledge retrieval, or AI-powered support and ticket triage, is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for running internal services is desirable.
  • Experience applying SRE concepts, including SLIs and SLOs, to internal IT services is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to balance technical excellence with a people-first approach.
  • High degree of autonomy, ownership, and initiative, with the ability to prioritize complex backlogs and independently drive solutions.
  • Security-conscious mindset combined with a practical approach to balancing organizational security, productivity, and speed.
  • Growth-oriented attitude and enthusiasm for continuously improving internal processes through technology and automation.
Benefits:
  • 100% remote working, providing flexibility to work from the location where you are most productive.
  • Opportunity to work within a globally distributed, technology-focused environment.
  • Strong culture of automation and continuous improvement, with encouragement to eliminate manual processes through engineering.
  • Opportunity to work with modern technologies and a stack that reflects contemporary production engineering practices.
  • Exposure to SaaS platforms, cloud infrastructure, APIs, automation, AI, identity, security, and platform engineering.
  • Significant autonomy and ownership over internal technology systems and the employee experience.
  • Opportunity to design and introduce AI-powered solutions across internal business operations.
  • Collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on innovation, engineering quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Opportunity to make a measurable impact by building scalable systems that support teams across a global organization.
