Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to students in the school settings. You will assess the health problems and needs, maintain medical records and ensure compliance with health regulations. The School Nurse will collaborate with educators, parents, and healthcare providers to support the physical and emotional health of students.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate students' health needs through regular health screenings and monitoring of vital signs.
  • Administer medications and provide first aid as necessary for injuries or illnesses that occur during school hours.
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions or special needs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide education to students and staff on health-related topics, including hygiene, nutrition and disease prevention.
  • Follow established nursing standards, procedures, and protocols.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies, including administering CPR.
  • Address patient concerns and provide emotional support as needed.
  • Working 1:1 with students with disabilities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Monitoring and recording evidence of student’s learning and progress.
  • Excellent communication, strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Nursing license RN in the state of employment.
  • Experience in school nursing or pediatrics preferred but not required.
  • BLS/ CPR Certification.
  • Fingerprinting by the PA Dept of Education through IdentoGO.
  • Up-to-date medical documentation(i.e. Physical, Titers and QuantiFERON)
  • Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical records management systems and HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Compassionate and caring demeanor.
  • Previous experience in urgent care or clinic settings a plus.
