Main Purpose:

The Shop Helper is responsible for assisting and learning in all areas of the Fabrication and Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Departments. This position is located in Houston, Texas at our Englobal Fabrication and Integration Shop.


Essential Functions:

  • Understand general safety awareness and practices
  • Perform assignments in a safe and efficient manner
  • Participate actively in and contribute to the overall safe operations of the facility and personnel
  • Operate forklift / overhead crane
  • Use grinders, cutting torches and air tools
  • Use hand, battery, corded and air tools for cutting, drilling, forming and sanding
  • Read and utilize a tape measure accurately
  • Operate various machines and presses
  • Assist and learn in all areas of the Fabrication and I&E Departments
  • Help clean the office and shop
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements


Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing
  • Turning, twisting, bending and balancing
  • Pushing, pulling and reaching
  • Must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds

Job Requirements:

  • 6+ months experience in Metal Fabrication or Construction (Residential or Commercial)
  • Must be able to use basic tools, such as impacts, drills, angle grinders etc.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime when necessary
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Desirable Experience, Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience operating various machines and presses preferred
  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred

Tools, Equipment and Technology:

  • Grinders, cutting torches, air tools, various machines and presses, tape measure etc.

Environmental Conditions:

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed indoors within our Englobal Fabrication and I&E Integration Shop. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions, dust, mud etc.
