CLA is growing and seeking to hire a Manager/Director - Accounting Methods to join our talented Federal Tax Strategies team. The position offers growth, flexibility and a collaborative work environment. The Accounting Methods team specializes in tax strategies involving the timing and character of income, expense, capitalization, and cost recovery to meet tax objectives.The team serves clients by determining optimal tax treatment for items and establishing and executing on procedural processes (such as Form 3115 filings) to implement strategies.The team is known for its agility in researching and navigating new or complex tax issues to create opportunities.

In this position you should have the following: excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment. Most important, demonstrate a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

How you'll create opportunities in this Manager/Director - Accounting Methods role:

  • Consult on accounting methods-related issues including automatic and non-automatic accounting methods changes including overall methods, revenue & expense recognition, inventory, capitalization, cost recovery and accounting periods.
  • Display solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to evaluate and articulate complex information.
  • Conduct research related to accounting methods tax issues to maintain and expand your knowledge base.
  • Participate and collaborate in accounting methods projects, including client interviews, reviewing client data, preparing calculations, analysis, and preparing supporting tax form filings.
  • Assist with researching and drafting automatic and non-automatic method changes, responses to IRS inquiries, IRS ruling requests and writing other technical memoranda.
  • Collaborate with managers, directors and principals, including industry leaders and other marketing and business personnel throughout the Firm.
  • Coach or mentor staff to assist with enhancing their skills and further developing their career.
  • Demonstrate ability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously in an effective and reliable manner.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA required (Juris Doctorate or Enrolled Agent may be accepted in lieu of CPA)
  • 6 years of experience in a large professional services or public accounting firm, driving strategic management required
