Location: Oceanside
Schedule: Full-Time | Outdoor Yard Role
Compensation: $17.50-$18.00 hourly rate (depending on experience)


The Role

Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery is seeking a dependable Irrigator to support plant health and seasonal watering requirements across designated nursery sections.


The Irrigator is responsible for ensuring plant material receives appropriate water based on seasonal conditions, weather patterns, and direction from the Irrigation Crew Lead or Yard Management. This role plays a critical part in maintaining plant quality, preventing loss, and supporting overall nursery standards.


What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Water assigned sections according to seasonal and weather-based needs
  • Ensure valves are properly shut off and hoses are secured after use
  • Perform basic irrigation repairs using poly tubing
  • Identify and report leaks or system issues to the Crew Lead or Yard Management
  • Apply dry fertilizer as directed
  • Hand-pull weeds in tree boxes and containers
  • Support tree staking and top-tying maintenance
  • Maintain plant health and general nursery presentation
  • Assist other nursery departments as needed standards

What You Bring

Work Environment & Expectations

This is a physically demanding outdoor role performed in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and excessive moisture. Work is conducted on uneven ground surfaces with extensive walking required.

Physical requirements include:

  • Standing or walking for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs (75% of the time)
  • Team lifting up to 50 lbs (25% of the time)
  • Gross grasping for valve operation and irrigation material handling


PPE is required as applicable.
