Job description

Gila Valley Irrigation District — Manager & Executive Secretary 

The Board of Directors of the Gila Valley Irrigation District is accepting applications for the combined position of Manager and Executive Secretary. This is a full-time, hands-on leadership and administrative role responsible for daily operational oversight, fiscal management, record keeping, and providing direct support to the Board. Ideal candidates will be proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a small-district environment where technical, administrative and public-facing duties are combined.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day management of district operations and serve as the primary administrative contact for the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare, maintain and reconcile accounting records; manage budgets, financial reports, and audits.
  • Act as executive secretary: prepare meeting agendas, minutes, correspondence, and official records.
  • Use computer applications (Microsoft Excel and Word) for financial tracking, reporting, and document preparation.
  • Maintain and update district databases and maps; interpret maps and spatial information relevant to irrigation operations.

Qualifications and Skills: Strong accounting fundamentals, excellent writing and communication skills, advanced proficiency with Excel and Word, experience with database management, and comfort interpreting maps and spatial data. Candidates should be self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
