Position Overview

The Assistant Department Manager assists the manager of a department by ensuring product availability, reviewing product inventory, performing cycle counts, and assessing demand change. The Assistant Department Manager may also support the department with administrative processes and assisting customers with sales and inquiries. 

What you'll do:

  • Respond to basic and more complex customer questions concerning product in all areas. Resolve a variety of customer service issues, make recommendations for substitutions, and process sales transactions.
  • Manage department inventory through cycle counts and identification of demand changes to ensure a proper product mix at all times
  • Perform administrative functions for the department, including but not limited to: product receiving, purchase orders (P.O.’s), product transfers and defective goods disposition
  • Create a positive environment for associates which encourages teamwork in alignment with SiteOne DNA
  • Coach and assist less experienced staff in meeting expected customer service and satisfaction goals
  • Partner with branch leadership to understand and implement new technologies and ways of working to help positively impact business performance

Skills We Are Seeking
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in retail, preferably in the irrigation, nursery, or landscape supply industry
  • Knowledge of irrigation, nursery, and landscape products and practices
  • Ready and willing to learn and adopt new technologies and ways of working
  • Skills in managing product inventory
  • High school diploma or equivalent
