Location: Metro Detroit, MI (Based in Roseville, MI)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, motivated Irrigation Service Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and upgrading residential and commercial irrigation systems while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting, operates independently with high standards, and takes pride in solving complex problems—ensuring every system is left better than it was found.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Service & Maintenance: Perform spring startups, mid-season inspections, preventative maintenance, and end-of-season winterizations using professional compressed air equipment.
  • Diagnostics & Diagnostics Repair: Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical components, including sprinkler heads, valves, main and lateral lines, drip systems, and rain sensors.
  • Smart Technology & Controls: Program and configure traditional and smart irrigation controllers, including Hunter Hydrawise systems.
  • Customer & Operations Management: Explain repairs and upgrades clearly to property owners. Accurately complete digital work orders and service records using Service Autopilot (SAP).
  • Vehicle & Job Site Ownership: Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service truck. Follow all company safety protocols and represent the brand with integrity.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Proven experience servicing residential and commercial irrigation systems (experienced candidates preferred).
  • Strong capability to diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and controller issues.
  • Familiarity with major industry brands (Hunter, Rain Bird, Irritrol, Toro, etc.).
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and ability to commute to Roseville, MI.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and regularly lift 50+ lbs.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and independent problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience using field management software like Service Autopilot (SAP).
  • Familiarity with smart controllers and Wi-Fi system integration.
  • Experience or willingness to participate in winter operations and holiday lighting.
