Irrigation Installation Technician

The Irrigation Installation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting underground irrigation systems for residential and commercial clients. Working under the direction of the Landscape Project Managers and Operations Manager, this role ensures irrigation installations are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications and company quality standards. The Irrigation Installation Technician assists with site preparation, equipment operation, system installation, troubleshooting, and quality control while maintaining clear communication with project teams and customers. The ideal candidate has prior irrigation installation and/or electrical experience, strong technical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install underground irrigation systems, including piping, valves, sprinkler heads, controllers, and related components.
  • Read and interpret irrigation plans, layouts, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with Project Managers and Crew Leaders.
  • Perform trenching, pipe installation, wiring, and system testing.
  • Troubleshoot irrigation system issues and assist with repairs as needed.
  • Ensure all installations meet company quality standards and client expectations.
  • Complete daily paperwork including timesheets, field reports, work orders, and service documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, materials, and equipment assigned to projects.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs.
  • Operate construction and landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and comply with all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site representatives, and team members.
  • Assist in identifying project enhancements and additional service opportunities.
  • Support project completion, testing, and final system inspections.
  • Work extended hours, weekends, and during inclement weather when required to meet project deadlines and customer needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in irrigation installation, landscaping, construction, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of irrigation systems, electrical wiring, controllers, valves, and sprinkler components.
  • Ability to read blueprints, layouts, and project specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial irrigation installation experience.
  • Electrical installation or troubleshooting experience.
  • CLT (Certified Landscape Technician) and/or CLIA certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
