What are IPTV and OTT services?

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) and OTT (Over-the-Top) are methods of delivering television content via the internet. IPTV typically refers to streaming TV content over a private, managed network, often provided by telecom companies, which allows for more control over quality and reliability. OTT services, on the other hand, deliver video content directly to viewers over the public internet, bypassing traditional cable or satellite providers—examples include Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. Both technologies are transforming how viewers access and consume television content, offering greater flexibility and on-demand options.

They must also stay updated with rapidly evolving technologies and changing viewer preferences. Collaborating closely with engineers, content teams, and customer support is essential to troubleshoot issues quickly and implement new features. Proactive learning and effective cross-functional communication can help address these challenges and contribute to a robust, user-friendly streaming experience.

Familiarity with tools like Wowza, AWS Media Services, DRM systems, and streaming codecs, as well as relevant certifications such as CCNA or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, is highly valued.
