What does a part-time iOS developer do?

A part-time iOS developer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining mobile applications for Apple's iOS platform, but works fewer hours than a full-time employee. Their tasks typically include writing code in Swift or Objective-C, debugging applications, collaborating with teams, and ensuring apps meet Apple's guidelines. Part-time roles may offer flexible schedules, making them suitable for students, freelancers, or those seeking work-life balance. Despite the reduced hours, part-time iOS developers are expected to deliver high-quality, efficient, and user-friendly apps.

What does a part-time iOS developer do?

As a part-time iOS developer, your job is to program software for one or more Apple products. In this role, you may use Apple's IDE, work as a programmer at a computer, test and debug your code, and select the best programming language for the applications you are trying to create. This is a relatively unusual position because most companies that develop software want to complete it as quickly as possible. As a result, part-time iOS developers usually focus on small projects or supporting other developers. The definition of part-time varies by company, but it could include full-length shifts on fewer days each week. Part-time iOS developers sometimes work from home.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part-time iOS developer?

To thrive as a Part-Time iOS Developer, you need strong proficiency in Swift and Objective-C, experience with iOS frameworks, and a solid understanding of mobile app development principles, often demonstrated by a degree in computer science or relevant experience. Familiarity with Xcode, Interface Builder, version control systems like Git, and knowledge of the App Store submission process are typically required. Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills help you deliver quality code efficiently while collaborating remotely or with cross-functional teams. These competencies ensure you can build, maintain, and enhance iOS applications effectively within the flexible demands of part-time work.

What is the difference between Ios Developer Part Time vs Ios Developer Full Time?

AspectIos Developer Part TimeIos Developer Full Time
Work HoursLess than 30 hours/week40 hours/week or more

Work EnvironmentFreelance, remote, or flexible settingsOffice-based or full-time remote roles
Employer UsageStartups, freelance projects, or part-time roles in companiesEstablished companies, tech firms, or full-time employment

The main difference between an Ios Developer Part Time and an Ios Developer Full Time lies in work hours and commitment. Part-time roles offer flexibility and fewer hours, often suitable for freelancers or students, while full-time positions require a standard 40-hour workweek with more stability and benefits. Both roles typically require similar skills and certifications, but the work environment and employer expectations differ.

How do part-time iOS developers typically collaborate with full-time team members to ensure project continuity?

Part-time iOS Developers often work closely with full-time team members by leveraging clear communication channels such as daily standups, project management tools, and code repositories. They are usually assigned specific tasks or modules that align with their availability, ensuring their contributions fit seamlessly into the larger project. Regular check-ins, thorough documentation, and transparent progress updates help maintain alignment and minimize disruptions. This collaborative approach ensures that all team members stay informed and that the project maintains momentum despite varying work schedules.

Job description

Description
Nebius Academy is an educational platform that helps experienced software developers stay at the forefront of technological innovation. We create specialized courses that teach professionals how to effectively use AI tools in real-world development workflows (AI Assited Programming).
Our programs are designed to help engineers critically and productively apply artificial intelligence in their professional work, improving code quality, development speed, and overall work efficiency.
Our mission is to provide engineers with access to cutting-edge knowledge in AI-assisted development and help them become leaders in the new era of programming.
Who are we looking for?
We are building a talent pool of experienced developers and technical experts for ongoing roles as Instructors, Authors, and Subject Matter Experts in our AI-assisted programming educational program.
We are looking for specialists across the following languages and platforms: Golang, Kotlin, Swift, C++, Mobile Development (Android / iOS), and other languages.
A strong candidate doesn't just know their language deeply - they actively use AI-assisted development tools in their daily workflow. We prioritize hands-on experience with tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI coding assistants. The ability to teach others how to integrate these tools effectively into real development work is what sets our instructors apart.
These are Talent Pool positions - we continuously review applications and build our roster of experts. This means there may not be an immediate opening at the time you apply, but strong candidates will be added to our talent pool and contacted as relevant opportunities arise.
You can join us on a part-time basis, contributing as an instructor leading live sessions and workshops, as a course author creating learning materials, or as a subject matter expert supporting curriculum development.
Apply now - we review applications on an ongoing basis. Our selection process is fully asynchronous and designed to respect your time:
  1. Application Review - we evaluate your profile against our current needs
  2. Async Video Interview - a short self-recorded interview (10-15 minutes max)
  3. Test Assignment - approximately 1 hour to complete
  4. Talent Pool - finalists are added to our active roster of vetted experts
  5. Hiring Manager & Tech Expert Call - once a relevant position opens, we invite you to a live interview with our team
  6. Offer - We extend offer to you for a relevant position, upon the recruitment process is successfull

Please submit your resume in English.
