Job description

CURRENT EMPLOYEES - Please apply using "Jobs Hub" in Workday. This career site is for external applicants only.

Viper Energy, Inc. ("Viper") is headquartered in Midland, Texas, and was formed by Diamondback Energy ("Diamondback") to own, acquire and exploit oil and natural gas properties in North America, with a focus on owning and acquiring mineral and royalty interests in oil-weighted basins, primarily in the Permian Basin in West Texas.
The Finance and Investor Relations Intern will own an assigned summer project while working directly on business functions such as financial analysis, investor relations, capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions. Viper's finance and investor relations team is intentionally lean, which means the intern will work directly with senior leadership, own deliverables end-to-end, and often see their work products reach the C-suite, Board, and investor community.

Duration: Approximately 12 weeks (May - August 2027)

Job Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Work on an assigned, individual Finance and Investor Relations project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback's and Viper's executive teams
  • Develop and increase knowledge of the minerals and royalties business and the oil and gas industry under the supervision and guidance of an assigned, experienced mentor
  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly deliverables for senior executives and the Board of Directors
  • Support preparing corporate investor relations materials, including investor presentations and press releases
  • Assist with the evaluation and financial modeling of merger and acquisition opportunities
  • Gather data from market resources and perform peer benchmarking and maintain knowledge of both debt and equity capital markets
  • Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and completions spread
  • Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors that support the Midland-Odessa community

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting or a similar discipline
  • Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, with a strong work ethic and high attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship
  • Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.60 or higher
  • Knowledge of the upstream and/or minerals sector and the oil and gas industry as a whole
  • Prior oil and gas internship experience within a financial setting
  • Experience with leading AI platforms and/or Bloomberg
