The WBG's Prosperity Vice Presidency, which includes the Bank's Manufacturing and Manufacturing Services expertise, works to connect our operational teams with clients by providing public and private sector solutions to expand Manufacturing opportunities in emerging markets.    

Within this structure, the Manufacturing and Services Solutions and Impact Department (WKPTM) focuses on  supporting investments in Manufacturing value chains including but not limited to those in Construction Materials (steel, cement, glass, etc.), Chemicals, Fertilizers, Automotive, Electronics, Batteries, Machinery, Textiles and Apparel, Packaging and other sectors involved in industrial production, value enhancement, and processing.

The WKPTM group is looking to hire an Investment Analyst to support the implementation of the Manufacturing and Manufacturing Services sectors' investments and solutions work. The Investment Analyst will help (i) prepare sector mappings, strategies, and management briefings; (ii) further WBG expertise in Manufacturing through benchmarking, analyzing industry trends, and tracking lessons learned and disseminating the same across the organization; (iii) develop new business, support transactions; and (ii) manage key global client relationships.

The Investment Analyst will work closely with sector and team leads, industry specialists and advisors, regional teams, and other partners to support industry and market research. The position will be based in Washington, DC. Some travel may be required.

Duties and Accountabilities:

The responsibilities of the Investment Analyst will include but are not limited to: 

Sector Support, Business Development and Knowledge Management:
  Provide market research and analysis, including comparator analysis, assessment of market dynamics, benchmarking, and competitiveness; 
  Prepare sector mapping to identify and target potential global clients and business opportunities; 
  Research prospective client companies; 
  Assist in preparing sector strategies and client pitchbooks; and
  Contribute to dissemination and exchange of knowledge.

Deal Execution and Investment Portfolio:
  Collect market data and coordinate with clients to obtain necessary information to support financial, operational and development impact assessments;
  Analyze company financial statements and projections, build financial models, and prepare sensitivity analyses; and
  With supervision from senior colleagues, coordinate with internal resources (legal, ES&G, economists, sector specialists, etc.) for input on relevant investment documents and analyses.
