What You'll Experience

As an mechanically-focused Operations Technician, you'll join a motivated team responsible for maintaining Williams' largest horsepower and power distribution installations. Your mechanical expertise will be key as you work with:

  • Gas turbines and high-speed reciprocating engines-mastering the mechanics behind high-performance energy systems

  • Medium voltage generators and power distribution-hands-on work with complex mechanical equipment

  • Environmental controls and distributed control systems-integrating mechanical skills with cutting-edge technology

You'll actively support construction initiatives, diagnose and repair equipment, and use your mechanical insight to solve technical challenges, all while developing into a respected leader within your team.

What You'll Do

In this mechanically-focused role, you will be pivotal in ensuring Williams' systems operate at peak performance. Your tasks will include:

  • Keeping our equipment running safely and smoothly by performing a range of hands-on tasks, from reading drawings to inspecting gear and supporting pipeline operations-all while meeting technical standards and regulations

  • Collaborating with your teammates to analyze data and find solutions to technical or operational challenges, making a real impact every day

  • Following our company policies and using the right procedures to ensure efficient and safe operations

  • Learning and applying the requirements for safe, effective facility operations, while protecting our team, community, environment, and assets

  • Staying familiar with your site, equipment, and permits to help maintain compliance and support smooth operations

  • Maintaining accurate records of process operations, completing reports and logs, and assisting with preventive maintenance to ensure top equipment performance

  • Helping with other projects and responsibilities as needed

What You'll Bring

Required for All Levels:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid State Driver's License and clean driving record

  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and travel between locations

  • Ability to work in extreme conditions and elevated areas with PPE

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence

Preferred Qualifications by Level:

  • Technician I:6+ months of mechanical or technical experience, or internship with Associate degree

  • Technician II:2+ years of related experience, preferably in oil & gas

  • Technician III:3+ years of technician experience, preferably in oil & gas

  • Technician Sr:6+ years of experience with similar equipment or facilities; Associate degree preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC applications

  • Ability to embrace new technologies and drive operational efficiency

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Work in a variety of conditions, including extreme temperatures, loud areas, and confined spaces

  • Lift up to 50 lbs (team lift for heavier loads)

  • Perform physical tasks like standing, walking, climbing, bending, and squatting for extended periods

  • Work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts, with proper PPE

  • Use hand tools regularly

  • Be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty

  • Expect 10-12 hour shifts with potential overtime

  • Travel between locations with occasional overnight stays
