Investment Banking Analyst

What the day will look like
Join a team of professionals at Aon dedicated to providing corporate finance and investment banking advisory services to Aon's (re)insurance clients. This client-facing position includes modeling financial and valuation impacts of strategic choices clients evaluate. These include buyside and sellside M&A, restructuring, raising capital, structuring reinsurance programs, applying captives and alternative risk management strategies, and entering or exiting business lines or geographies.
You will collaborate within a group setting on a variety of tasks, including:
  • Financial Modeling - building three statement financial models and projections, discounted cash flow models and M&A combination analyses.
  • Financial Analysis - reviewing both public and confidential information about companies, their peers, and information about precedent transactions to identify trends relevant to our clients and their goals.
  • Valuation Analyses - conducting comparable company, comparable transaction, regression, and discounted cash flow analyses.
  • Presentation Development - assisting in crafting investment banking marketing materials, presentations for senior management, and board-level client presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Synthesizing information and making recommendations involves combining data from clients and colleagues to inform financial projections. It also includes proactively identifying alternative ideas and solutions to meet client goals.
  • Industry Research - tracking (re)insurance industry trends and translating that information into insights that aid client recommendations.
  • Maintaining and Establishing Client Relationships - developing relationships within the Aon organization and growing existing client relationships.

How this opportunity is different
The Corporate Finance team is an integral part of the broader U.S. Aon Capital Advisory group, a firm-wide collaboration that combines expertise across Aon's fields, including Corporate Finance, Analytics, Reinsurance Solutions, and Investment Banking practices.
The group's goal is to bring to bear our collective experience to provide tailored, objective, and comprehensive advice on the capital supporting clients' business. They also focus on how this capital can be optimized. The group is led by a senior Aon executive with oversight from the Chief Strategy Officer and Global Head of Analytics for Aon Reinsurance Solutions.
We work with insurers, reinsurers, investment firms, banks, and corporations to manage complex commercial issues through the provision of corporate finance advisory services, capital markets solutions, and innovative risk management products.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Proven experience in the financial services or (re)insurance, ideally in corporate finance, financial planning , financial analysis, and/or accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Financial modeling experience is required
  • Knowledge of accounting and finance concepts, with knowledge of balance sheet concepts for financial institutions a plus
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Prior experience with data analysis concepts, including reproducibility and version control
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible, adaptable in work tasks and approach
  • Ability to operate effectively in a cooperative and matrixed setting
  • Focused, with strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills, client management and communication abilities

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $100,000 to $110,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
