Job description

We have an outstanding Contract to Hire position for an Inventory and Logistics Specialist to join a leading Company located in the Woodridge, IL surrounding area.

Pay Rate: $20-$26/hour

We are currently seeking an Inventory & Logistics Specialist to join our team! This role is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, inventory management, forklift operation, warehouse organization, and logistics coordination. The position will ensure accurate inventory tracking through barcode systems, maintain efficient warehouse storage and material flow, and support inbound and outbound shipment execution. Further duties include managing shipping documentation and carrier invoices, maintaining warehouse supply levels, and ensuring the warehouse operates safely and efficiently. This role also supports warehouse optimization efforts through inventory accuracy, storage management, and operational organization to improve overall customer center performance and service levels.

Job Responsibilities:  
  • Manage daily inbound and outbound shipments, including loading, unloading, packing, and unpacking materials and products.
  • Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely and efficiently to support daily warehouse activities.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using barcode scanning and warehouse inventory management systems.
  • Track and manage inventory locations to ensure all materials and products are properly identified and stored.
  • Create and maintain BIC warehouse storage locations and organization standards throughout the facility.
  • Conduct cycle counts, inventory audits, and discrepancy investigations to maintain high inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate with shipping carriers and freight providers to schedule pickups, deliveries, and shipment processing.
  • Manage shipping provider invoices and ensure freight billing accuracy and proper recordkeeping.
  • Maintain warehouse stock levels for shipping and operational materials including boxes, pallets, labels, and packing supplies.
  • Ensure warehouse cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety procedures and company standards.
  • Assist with warehouse layout improvements, storage optimization, and continuous operational improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal teams and customer center operations with timely material handling and inventory support.
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation and reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, carriers, and warehouse personnel to support daily operations.
    
Basic Hiring Criteria:  
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, inventory management, or logistics-related roles preferred.
  • Forklift certification or prior forklift operating experience required.
  • Experience using barcode inventory systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), or inventory tracking software preferred.
  • CDL license preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, shipping processes, inventory control, and material handling procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and inventory/shipping systems.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on operational accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical warehouse duties throughout the workday.
