Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and visibility of all inventory-related transactions within the ERP system. This role owns inventory data accuracy across raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods, and provides daily reporting on inventory performance and discrepancies.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role focused on transaction accuracy, process discipline, and real-time visibility, ensuring that all inventory movements are correctly executed and reflected in the system. The role partners closely with Inventory/Warehouse, Production, Purchasing, and Finance leaders to enforce standardized processes and eliminate discrepancies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • ERP Transaction Accuracy & Control
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded in ERP, including:
  • Receipts
  • Issues to production
  • Transfers
  • Adjustments
  • Returns
  • Audit daily transactions for completeness and accuracy
  • Identify and correct discrepancies in real time
  • Enforce proper use of ERP across all departments

Daily Inventory Reconciliation

  • Perform daily reconciliation between:
  • Physical inventory movements
  • ERP system records
  • Investigate variances and determine root cause
  • Work with warehouse and production teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Prevent recurrence through process correction

Inventory Accuracy Management

  • Own inventory accuracy KPI (target ≥98%)
  • Design and manage cycle count program
  • Analyze accuracy trends and identify problem areas
  • Ensure location/bin accuracy is maintained

WIP & Production Transaction Visibility

Ensure all production-related material movements are properly recorded:

  • Material issuance
  • Consumption
  • WIP tracking
  • Validate alignment between:
  • BOMs
  • Actual usage
  • ERP records
  • Identify gaps between physical flow and system flow

Metrics & Reporting

Develop and maintain daily/weekly reporting on:

  • Inventory accuracy %
  • Transaction errors
  • Cycle count results
  • Adjustment trends
  • WIP discrepancies
  • Provide visibility dashboards to Supply Chain and Operations leadership
  • Highlight risks and recurring issues

Process Discipline & Enforcement

  • Define and document inventory transaction procedures
  • Train teams on proper transaction execution
  • Audit compliance across:
  • Receiving
  • Warehouse
  • Production
  • Enforce adherence to standardized processes

Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with:

  • Supply Chain Manager – receiving, put-away, picking accuracy, PO receipts and discrepancies
  • Production Managers – material issuance and consumption tracking
  • Finance – inventory valuation and adjustments
  • Quality Manager – quarantine, DMR, MRB inventory control

Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify recurring sources of inventory error:
  • Process gaps
  • Training issues
  • System configuration issues
  • Work with managers to define and implement corrective actions
  • Improve transaction flow and system accuracy


Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years inventory control or ERP transaction experience
  • Strong ERP experience (NetSuite, Odoo, SAP, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • Strong Excel / data analysis capability

Preferred:

  • Experience in high-mix or staged manufacturing
  • Understanding of BOM structures and WIP tracking
