Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, inventory information, and material requirements.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn manufacturing/inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience using JD Edwards Software
  • 10+ years demonstrated experience in production control (or 5+ years with college degree in related program) 
  • Forklift certified
Physical / Work Environment
  • Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing and production environment.
  • Regular walking and standing throughout the facility may be required.
  • Ability to safely handle or coordinate movement of materials and containers within established weight and equipment limitations.
  • Ability to work around moving equipment, machinery, and active production operations.
  • May require use of personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  • Schedule may include overtime, weekends, or adjusted shifts based on production requirements.
 Unit Coordinator - Production Control / Parts MoversPosition Summary

The Unit Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of Production Control and Parts Movers to ensure materials, components, and work orders are available at the right place and time to support uninterrupted production. This position serves as the primary point of coordination between Production Control, material handling, warehouse, and manufacturing departments.

The Unit Coordinator provides day-to-day direction to Parts Movers, monitors material flow, prioritizes work based on production requirements, and addresses issues that may impact production schedules, inventory accuracy, or on-time delivery.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily activities for Parts Movers based on production schedules, material requirements, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure required parts, components, containers, and materials are delivered to the appropriate production areas in a timely manner.
  • Monitor production floor material flow and identify shortages, delays, excess material, or other conditions that could disrupt production.
  • Review production schedules, work orders, material requirements, and system information to establish priorities for material movement.
  • Coordinate with Production Supervisors, Production Control, Warehouse, Shipping/Receiving, and other departments to resolve material-related issues.
  • Provide daily direction, work assignments, and priorities to Parts Movers.
  • Communicate production priorities and changes to Parts Movers throughout the shift.
  • Train and coach Parts Movers on material-handling procedures, production priorities, safety requirements, and system transactions.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety policies, material-handling procedures, and established work instructions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve material flow, reduce production downtime, minimize unnecessary movement, and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Other Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Production Control to adjust priorities as schedules and customer requirements change.
  • Track open material requests and ensure timely completion.
  • Help maintain accurate system transactions related to material movement and production orders.
  • Escalate recurring shortages, delays, inventory discrepancies, and process issues to appropriate leadership.
  • Support production planning meetings and provide information regarding material availability and movement capacity.
Leadership Responsibilities

The Unit Coordinator provides functional leadership and daily direction to Parts Movers. This includes:

  • Assigning work and establishing priorities.
  • Monitoring productivity and workload.
  • Coordinating breaks and coverage.
  • Providing real-time direction during changing production conditions.
  • Coaching employees on procedures and expectations.
  • Identifying training needs.
  • Communicating employee performance or attendance concerns to management.
  • Promoting accountability, teamwork, safety, and adherence to standard work.
