Job description

The Fleet Service Coordinator provides support to the Director of Fleet Maintenance in the execution of his or her duties and assists in daily administrative tasks for the department.The Fleet Service Coordinator will also provide support to drivers who have breakdowns or develop other maintenance issues while en route, primarily during standard business hours and after normal business hours, as needed. The Fleet Service Coordinator will assist in ensuring drivers and equipment are safe and DOT compliance standards are met.

Essential Functions:

  • Follow/execute preventative maintenance policies and/or programs for the entire fleet, including long-haul, regional and local fleet vehicles.
  • Coordinate breakdown/repair response by ensuring tows or repairs are conducted in a timely manner, vendor policies are followed, and that rest accommodations are made for drivers while their unit is off the road.
  • Understand, utilize, and train other personnel on use of Fleetmatics. Monitor fleet position and unit utilization for efficiency and to curtail inappropriate use of equipment. Track and distribute Fleetmatics peripheral equipment such as fobs and tablets.
  • Monitor fuel usage under Fleetmatics and other such monitoring services, reporting any variances or anomalies to Director of Fleet Management.
  • Identify and regularly assess the collection and analysis of maintenance data and the software used in the maintenance program.
  • Input maintenance and other records into electronic record-keeping system
  • Assist in maintaining fleet management policies and procedures as it relates to vehicle acquisitions and asset management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of common computer systems, such as Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to key data accurately and quickly
  • Knowledge of fleet management and equipment used in HHG moving or related industry
  • Ability to problem solve effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to analyze options and negotiate with vendors
  • Must be able to work with independently

Required Education and Experience:

  • Prefer: Bachelor's degree in logistics or other relevant area
  • Prefer: 2+ years of fleet management and/or inventory control in multi-site environment
  • Require: Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Require: Proficient PC skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and database management.
  • Require: High school diploma or equivalent

Working Conditions:

  • Mostly indoors, working outdoors with equipment is sometimes required
  • Night, weekend, and evening work required
