Job description

Material Control / Buyer:

The leading manufacturer of Cable Bus and Cable Tray in America, has an opening for a Purchasing and Material Control position in Simpsonville, SC.

This position will allow the opportunity to work in a diverse area that will present you with exposure to many aspects of the company. You will work hands on with material from the purchasing stage through final product shipment.

Daily Responsibilities will include:

-Working directly with our vendors to negotiate the best possible pricing and lead time for material.

-Communicating and working closely with our Sales, Engineering, Shipping and Production groups regarding all material related questions and needs.

-Hands on focus in our raw material warehouse and hardware packaging area with a concentration on hardware audits.

-Work alongside the rest of the materials group to complete cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory for our 1,000+ stock items. Develop new and innovative ways to manage new and existing inventory items.

-Review packing slips and invoices to verify accuracy before submitting them to accounts payable. This will include receiving material into our system which has been delivered.

-Maintain existing metrics and develop new metrics for material related tracking.

-Create purchase orders and manage physical inventory and material issuing with our sub-contractors.

-Maintain focus on our 6S standards set forth for the department and company.

To effectively execute the responsibilities of this role you will need to maintain organization, multitask, have great communication skills along with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The role will not only require the ability to work in an office setting but also the ability and willingness to work on the production floor for material related departmental functions.
