SUMMARY

The Assistant Store Manager will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the supermarket. This position is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in managing the overall performance of the store, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining high standards in merchandising, and leading a team to achieve sales goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and ensuring store standards are met.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor store employees, providing guidance and support to ensure high levels of productivity and morale.
  • Ensure that all customers receive exceptional service by addressing their needs, resolving complaints, and fostering a positive shopping environment.
  • Maintain attractive and effective product displays, ensuring that shelves are well-stocked and that promotional materials are up to date.
  • Assist in monitoring sales trends, implementing strategies to achieve sales targets, and driving store profitability.
  • Ensure that the store complies with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and local laws.
  • Assist with inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and managing stock levels to minimize shrinkage and waste.
  • Provide regular reports on store performance, employee productivity, and other key metrics to the Store Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise Associates in all departments.ย 
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.ย 
  • Directly supervises non-supervisory associates.ย 
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • One to three months related experience and/or training;
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.ย 
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.ย 
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with Supermarket math concepts such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages, distribution, penetration, gross profit, and Sales Per Associate Hour.
