Black & McDonald's Southern Ontario Utilities team is growing! If you are an independent, enthusiastic, and driven professional searching for an opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Inventory Specialist is located on site and typically reports directly to the Project Manager.

Inventory & Warehouse Specialists plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate inventory for project needs in collaboration with the Yard workers.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Day to Day:

  • Support Division manager (DM) and Operations manager's (OM) with day-to-day inventory activities and order filling.
  • Supervise, communicate, and coordinate with yard workers (YW).
  • Manage & maintain inventory levels determined by (DM) and (OM).
  • Use material requisition forms for inventory ordering, WO processing and filling,receiving, transferring and requests & coordinate with YW. To be done in conjunction with JDE software and confirm all transactions have been reflected in JDE, at the time of transaction.
  • Receive material requisition forms from field crews and operations and sales teams, compile inventory replenishment packages for pickup daily. Schedule for requisitions and pickup have been established by DM and OM.
  • Physically receive incoming deliveries with yard workers, organize materials in warehouse at established locations and barcode inventory items.
  • Utilizing vendor packing slips to update JDE inventory receipts.
  • Coordinate with B&M procurement team, and vendors for material pricing, order placement and shipment scheduling.
  • Following up with vendors on lead times and ordering issues/concerns.
  • Full comprehension of a DSI inventory application and process.
  • DSI inventory support for field and management staff
  • Coordination, organization, and material level monitoring of all satellite locations.
  • Baywood warehouse and yard operations:
  • Bin management and scheduling of disposal of materials
  • Baywood yard and warehouse maintenance, yard and warehouse must be organized and clean
  • Create a shipping and receiving schedule and enforcement of schedule.
  • Learn & manage full inventory process.
  • Document control
  • Perform daily PJHA (Pre Job Hazard Assessment) with YW for all daily activities in warehouse and yard.
  • Support operations and sales teams with emergency material deliveries as required.

Weekly:

  • Coordinate with municipalities for materials drop off or pick-ups. Update invoicing software with manpower and equipment used.
  • Coordinate with field and operations team, and schedule deliveries for satellite locations.
  • Participate and/or lead tail board talks with YW and operations teams.
  • Analyse JDE software inventory reports, establish tendencies and report back to DM, PM's on high and low volume items
  • Participate in weekly meeting with the Velociti sales team

Monthly:

  • Periodic reviews with DM, OM, and make any adjustments of inventory min/max levels as work levels fluctuate.
  • Schedule inventory cycle counts & work with finance to update JDE accordingly including afterhours and weekend work.
  • Periodic review of process flow mapping with DM & updating as required
  • Provide monthly inventory report to DM and PM's.
  • Perform quarterly reviews with YW.

WHAT YOU CAN OFFER

  • Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience in the construction sector or inventory coordination

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient user of:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • JD Edwards knowledge would be considered an asset.
  • Supervisor experience leading a small team will be considered an asset.
  • BOS (Basic of Supervision) or MOL 5 step will be considered an asset
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License is required.

The expected salary range for this role is between $65,000 - $80,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
