Surgical Inventory Specialist
  • Department: Surgical Services Admin
  • Hours: per diem

Position Summary
Responsible for ongoing maintenance of the surgical case cart inventory supplies for multiple departments. Acts as key resource to Surgical inventory Analyst and coordinates tasks of Surgical inventory assistant. Teamwork and good communication skills are critical for good outcomes
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Inventory supplies on shelves and in multiples storage areas
Maintain order sheets
Manage par levels
Review inventory forecast report
Order supplies for LDRP
Daily Ordering of disposable supplies
Order new and replacement instruments
Scope, specialty instruments and equipment Repairs - contact vendor and coordinate return to vendor for repair
Resolve back order issues
Maintains expire log
Coordinates with Inventory Analyst on low or no usage supplies
Attends monthly Surgical Value Analysis, monthly Operational Value Analysis, weekly Inventory meeting, daily meeting with Surgical Inventory Analyst and daily CSS huddle
Coordinate logistics for new items
Point person for recalls of product stored in CSS
Manage defective devices - contacts rep and follow up
Maintain specialty inventory/orders
Coordinates daily tasks for Surgical Inventory Assistant
Resolves last minute stock outs
All other job related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Good manual dexterity
Ability to read and write English
Ability to lift in excess of 25-50 lbs
Previous inventory experience .
Ability to work in a team environment
Good communication skills
Preferred Skills:
Previous hospital inventory experience
Computer skills, Google Lawson,Surginet, Cerner
Ability to stay organized and to be self sufficient on a daily basis
Ability to use inventory skills to optimize on hand quantities of supplies
