Job Title: Designer 2 - Siemens NX (Virginia Class Program)
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Designer 4 to support design initiatives for Virginia Class model file conversions. This role involves converting 3D models into Siemens NX, including the setup of construction views across multiple trade disciplines. The ideal candidate will contribute to product development and manufacturing efficiency through design modifications, technical analysis, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
  • Convert and develop 3D models using Siemens NX
  • Create and modify designs for components and systems to improve manufacturability
  • Utilize CAD/CAM tools such as NX and CATIA
  • Prepare layouts, sketches, and design concepts based on engineering requirements
  • Perform calculations, studies, and technical evaluations
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, materials, and planning teams
  • Ensure designs meet contract requirements, material availability, and production feasibility
  • Support multiple disciplines including structural, electrical, piping, mechanical, ventilation, and sheet metal
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree and 6 years of experience
    OR
  • 2 additional years of related experience in lieu of degree
    OR
  • 4 years of non-related experience in lieu of degree
    OR
  • Apprentice Certificate or Navy Nuclear Power School in lieu of degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • AAS Degree in Drafting & Design or Engineering Technology
  • Experience with Siemens NX and/or Autodesk Inventor
  • Experience creating manufacturing or installation drawings
  • Trade experience using 3D work instructions (structural, electrical, piping, mechanical, ventilation, sheet metal)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
