Intune Consultant information

What is an Intune consultant?

An Intune Consultant is an IT professional who specializes in deploying, configuring, and managing Microsoft Intune, a cloud-based service for mobile device and application management. Their role involves helping organizations secure and manage devices, implement compliance policies, and streamline application deployment using Intune. They often provide guidance on best practices, troubleshoot issues, and assist with integration with other Microsoft services such as Azure Active Directory. Intune Consultants are essential for businesses seeking to enhance security and productivity in a mobile or remote workforce.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intune consultant?

To excel as an Intune Consultant, you need in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Intune, mobile device management (MDM), endpoint security, and a background in IT or computer science. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Azure Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, and relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals are typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills help you understand client needs and deliver effective solutions. These skills ensure secure, efficient device management and successful client outcomes in complex enterprise environments.

What are some common challenges an Intune consultant faces when implementing device management solutions for clients?

Intune Consultants often encounter challenges such as integrating Intune with existing legacy systems, managing diverse device platforms (Windows, iOS, Android), and ensuring compliance with varying security policies. Communicating technical changes to client stakeholders and troubleshooting user adoption issues can also be complex. Successful consultants proactively address these challenges through clear project planning, thorough documentation, and ongoing user training and support.

Job description

Job#: 3044342
Job Description:
Enterprise Endpoint Engineer (Intune Experience)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are actively seeking a candidate who is well-versed in troubleshooting and resolving issues within Microsoft Intune-managed environments. This is not a traditional, siloed service desk role. The position requires operating effectively across desktop support, endpoint management, security compliance, and network-related challenges. You will be expected to move fluidly across technical domains, owning problems end-to-end while balancing user experience, security, and operational efficiency in a secure, enterprise-scale environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Intune-related issues, including device configuration, policy application, compliance failures, and software deployment.
  • Provide hands-on desktop support in an enterprise environment, including OS, hardware, and user-facing issues.
  • Diagnose and address network connectivity issues such as access restrictions, firewall rules, DNS, VPN, and IP/Port/URL filtering.
  • Navigate and resolve security and compliance-related challenges, including endpoint hardening, policy enforcement, and audit readiness.
  • Operate effectively across multiple functions, including endpoint management, support, security, and asset management.
  • Update and support systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space, and implementing critical patches.
  • Review systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in information systems or a relevant field is required.
  • This role requires 4-8 years of prior relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. Candidates must have 3+ years of practical experience in the field.
  • Practical experience managing enterprise desktops within a Microsoft Intune managed environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and administering Windows operating systems in an enterprise environment, ideally including peripheral device management, asset management, and VOIP operations.
  • Hands-on experience administering or operating network access controls in the form of IP:Port or URL based filters.
  • Understanding and practical exposure to regulatory controls, baselines, and security policies within an Azure Entra and Intune based environment.
  • Ability to self-manage work tasks using M365 based tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently resolve issues and improve day-to-day operations with self-driven initiatives.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Public Trust clearance as a condition and continuation of employment.
Work Location
  • This position requires the candidate to be located near Indianapolis, IN, with a willingness to be on-site in support of the mission.
