What are Intune Administrators?

Intune Administrators are IT professionals responsible for managing and configuring Microsoft Intune, a cloud-based service that helps organizations manage and secure devices and applications. Their duties include deploying software, applying security policies, monitoring device compliance, and troubleshooting issues for users across various platforms such as Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Intune Administrators play a crucial role in safeguarding company data by ensuring that only compliant and secure devices access corporate resources. They also work closely with other IT staff to integrate Intune with existing infrastructure and respond to evolving organizational needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intune Administrator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intune Administrator, you need expertise in mobile device management (MDM), Windows and Azure environments, and a solid understanding of security protocols, typically supported by relevant IT certifications like Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate. Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, Azure Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, and compliance management tools is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help in addressing user needs and collaborating with IT teams. These skills and qualifications are crucial for securely managing devices, ensuring policy compliance, and supporting seamless technology operations across organizations.

What are some common challenges Intune Administrators face when managing device compliance across a large organization?

Intune Administrators often encounter challenges such as ensuring consistent policy application across diverse device types and operating systems, troubleshooting deployment issues, and managing user exceptions or non-compliance. Effective communication with end users and coordination with IT security teams are essential for addressing these challenges and maintaining a secure, compliant device ecosystem.

OVERVIEW
Cravath has been known as one of the premier U.S. law firms for more than two centuries. Throughout our history, we have played a central role in developing how law is practiced, how lawyers are trained and how business risk is managed. Our goal is to be the firm of choice for clients with respect to their most challenging legal issues, most significant business transactions and most critical disputes.
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Systems Administrator - Cloud & Identity Services to support and maintain infrastructure systems. This role is operationally focused and responsible for identity and access systems, automation, hybrid cloud operations, and endpoint management. The ideal candidate brings technical depth, consistency, and a strong focus on security, reliability, and service delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Cloud & Infrastructure Operations
  • Assists with planning and migration of services to cloud platforms;
  • Supports operations across Azure and on-premise systems; and
  • Participates in cloud governance and security posture improvement initiatives.

Identity & Access Administration
  • Manages Entra ID, Active Directory objects, Group Policy, and object lifecycle;
  • Administers password management policies, controls and MFA; and
  • Supports enterprise apps, app registrations, and conditional access policies.

Endpoint & Configuration Management
  • Administers MECM for workstation patching, application packaging, and compliance reporting;
  • Leverages PowerShell and MECM configuration to maintain and improve endpoint health;
  • Contributes to modernization initiatives such as Intune, Autopilot, Windows Hello for Business and LAPS; and
  • Troubleshoots Microsoft workstation and server operating systems.

Operational Maintenance & Security
  • Performs scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and operational tasks on infrastructure systems;
  • Reviews and remediates security findings in coordination with the IT Security team;
  • Administers file services including DFS namespaces, permissions, and replication technologies; and
  • Participates in the infrastructure on-call rotation and provide responsive support for escalations.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintains accurate system documentation, diagrams, and DR runbooks;
  • Identifies automation opportunities and contribute to scripting, orchestration, and process optimization;
  • Supports cross-training, knowledge transfer, and documentation to strengthen team resilience and coverage;
  • Recommends improvements to policies, standards, and operational workflows; and
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred;
  • 3+ years of experience in Microsoft enterprise infrastructure or systems administration;
  • At least 1 or more years' experience with Azure administration, Entra ID (specifically including conditional access management), cloud resource management, and hybrid environments;
  • Relevant certifications strongly preferred (e.g., Azure Administrator, Intune Administrator, Microsoft 365 certifications);
  • Proficiency with MECM/SCCM, Active Directory, and Windows endpoint management;
  • Familiarity with MFA, password management, privileged access tools, and identity controls;
  • Working knowledge of file services (DFS, DFSR) and hybrid environment operations;
  • Solid understanding of patch management, security baselines, workstation hardening, and identity security;
  • Ability to balance operational reliability with modernization and automation initiatives;
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills;
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision;
  • Strong commitment to documentation, process improvement, and knowledge sharing; and
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed, including nights and weekends.

This position is located in our New York office, and currently has a hybrid work schedule, but that is subject to change. The estimated salary range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000.
