Job description

We are looking for a Tax Accountant CPA to join our team! You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records for our company. Ideal candidate will be located in Richmond, VA. We would consider transitioning to a hybrid remote working environment after tax season is completed.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review business and personal tax returns
  • Manage tax return process & client data
  • Train and become a tax planning advisor helping clients through various strategies
  • Prepare and present tax planning kickoff calls, implementation calls and quarterly calls helping clients with their tax questions throughout the year
  • Review work of staff accountants / bookkeepers
  • Delegate work from clients to staff accountants / bookkeepers
  • Record tax entries within client’s accounting system and spot potential tax errors
  • Keep up to date with latest tax legislation changes and IRS pronouncements as they become available
  • Research strategies that may apply to clients and keep up to date with the evolving tax industry
  • Eventually, prepare and present tax planning kickoff calls, implementation calls and quarterly calls working with clients on their tax questions throughout the year

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years minimum experience in accounting and tax
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP & tax basis
  • Understanding of SARS rules for issuing financial statements to clients
  • Ability to prepare and release financial statements to clients
  • Experience with current computer accounting programs and reporting tools such as Thomson Reuters Suite, Quickbooks, Xero, and Dillner's
  • Detail and deadline-oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Assist with various entity extension deadlines
  • Experience preparing 1040, 1041, 1120, 1120S, 1065, and 990 tax returns
