Job Opportunity: Inside Machinist
LEAD Staffing | Hampton Roads, VA
Location: Hampton Roads, VA
Schedule: Full-Time | Contract | 40 hours per week (Overtime as required)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Inside Machinist to support shipyard operations in Hampton Roads, VA. This role involves precision machining, fitting, and alignment of mechanical components and shipboard machinery using conventional and CNC machine tools.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machine tools to fabricate or repair precision parts.
  • Perform shaft alignments, bearing fits, and mechanical component installations.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining specifications.
  • Set up and operate CNC machinery as required.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other gauging tools.
  • Fabricate replacement parts and repair damaged components.
  • Maintain machine tools and work area in safe, clean condition.
  • Follow all shipyard safety procedures and machining quality standards.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of machinist experience in a marine, shipyard, or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with conventional and/or CNC machine tools.
  • Strong metrology skills (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.).
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Must be willing to undergo background check and drug screening.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as required.
  • Clean driving record required.
