Job description

Registered Nurse Cardiac Imaging

The Registered Nurse Cardiac Imaging provides direct patient care and supervision of the Cardiac imaging modalities to include the following: Echocardiography, Pharmacological Stress Echocardiography, Exercise Stress Testing, and Stress Radionuclide Cardiac Imagine (exercise and pharmacological), Cardiac CT, Cardiac PET, and Cardiac MRI under the direct supervision of a physician. This position provides nursing care for patients ages 18 to geriatric.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

ยท Specializes in patient care during complex cardiac diagnostic procedures, monitoring vitals, administering medications, managing IVs, educating patients on tests, ensuring safety, and assisting the cardiology team before, during, and after imaging, acting as a vital link for patient comfort and procedural success.

ยท Patient Preparation: Reviewing histories, explaining procedures, administering pre-medications, setting up IVs, and addressing anxiety.

ยท During Procedures: Monitoring vital signs, heart rhythms, and sedation levels; assisting providers; managing complications (e.g., allergic reactions); administering contrast agents (as ordered and appropriate).

ยท Post-Procedure Care: Monitoring for complications, providing hydration as ordered, giving discharge instructions, and offering emotional support.

ยท Technical Assistance: Using equipment, handling medications, contrast agents, and managing radiation safety.

ยท Collaboration & Education: Working with cardiologists, technologists, and other staff; educating patients and families.

ยท Performs all nursing care/procedures with technical accuracy and a thorough understanding of safety standards.

ยท In-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system and ability to interpret EKGs.

ยท Knowledge of radiation safety and equipment safety.

ยท Assists with and promotes education and competency of EKG technicians. Serves as mentor to Cardiology technicians and sonographers. Position may be required to support cardiac testing in both inpatient/outpatient settings and requires ability travel to other locations.

Education, Experience And Qualifications

ยท Minimum of Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

ยท Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.

ยท Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Critical Care, Cardiac Testing, Cardiac Cath Lab, or Interventional Radiology, and Advanced knowledge of Electrocardiographic (EKG) Interpretation required.

ยท Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

ยท Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

ยท Strong leadership and critical thinking skills.

ยท Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
