The RN Educator - Cardiac Interventional Services for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and Interventional Radiology provides clinical education and professional development support to nursing and allied health staff within these specialty areas. The role supports orientation, ongoing competency, evidence-based practice implementation, quality improvement, and compliance with regulatory standards to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

Minimum Education
 

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required


Minimum Work Experience
 

  • 4 years Clinical nursing experience in Cath, EP, or IR Labs. Required


Licenses and Certifications
 

  • Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) Upon Hire Required
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS_CCI) within 18 Months Required or
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES_CCI) within 18 Months Required


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
 

  • Strong Knowledge of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and a commitment to education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in EMR, CPOE and Medication Administration Programs.
  • Ensures staff competency, staff development, compliance with policy and procedures, safety goals, and compliance with DNV standards.
  • Promotes certification and continuing education in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and radiologic nursing.
  • Maintains unit-based staff in-service, education, and competency records.
  • Coaches staff on career development, clinical ladder advancement, and leadership growth.
  • Organizes in-services and other learning opportunities related to procedural sedation, emergency management and other skills and technologies related to specialties.
  • Collaborates with leadership and quality teams to address performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Supports standardization of clinical protocols, checklists, and documentation workflows.
  • Ensures staff are trained and compliant with infection prevention, radiation safety, moderate sedation, and procedural time-out policies.
  • Identifies possible causes for success or failure of learning experiences.
  • Retrieves, interprets, and utilizes data in patient care planning and analyses data to determine opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
  • Functions as a role model for current and new staff in all areas of the hospital.
