Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring at least one year of critical care, ED, cath lab, or IR experience and current OR licensure.

Details
  • Hospital-based Interventional Radiology unit
  • Patient population includes those undergoing invasive interventional procedures such as angiography, embolization, and cardiac catheterization
  • Day shift, 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
  • On-call responsibilities may be required as needed
  • RN may be assigned to multiple roles including Circulator, Moderate Sedation Monitor, Scrub, Hemodynamic Monitor, and Peri-Procedure Support
  • Equipment used includes infusion pumps, PCA pumps, hemodynamic recorders, ECG monitors, ultrasound, and IVUS devices
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active OR RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (both required)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in critical care, ED, cath lab, or IR required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required
  • IV certification required
  • International candidates are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
  • Administers medications including anticoagulants, vasoactive agents, contrast agents, and emergency drugs
  • Responsible for recognizing and rapidly responding to complications such as arrhythmia, contrast reactions, stroke alerts, and cardiac arrest
  • Manages contrast allergy considerations in collaboration with Rad Techs and physicians, including pre-procedure discussions and timeout communication
  • When assigned to moderate sedation monitoring, must maintain continual patient assessment without engaging in competing tasks; verifies ASA classification and consults anesthesia for ASA IV or greater
  • When assigned to the scrub role, prepares and organizes sterile instruments, guidewires, catheters, sheaths, and procedural trays while anticipating physician needs
  • When assigned to the monitor role, records hemodynamic data, pressures, and procedural events, and operates/troubleshoots physiological monitoring systems
  • Performs patient identification, procedure verification, and timeout processes per institutional policy
  • Performs sheath pulls and vascular access management as needed
  • Supports department operations including supply management, room turnover, and proper handling of sharps and biohazard materials
  • BSN preferred but not required
  • At least 3 years of IR or Cath Lab experience, conscious sedation training, and monitor role experience are preferred
  • Specialty certifications such as RCIS or NIH Stroke Scale are preferred
  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred; experience working with culturally diverse populations is a plus
