Job Overview:

Supervises Radiology Personnel. Coordinates and directs operational functions of radiology service. Analyzes workload and performance standards. Assists in the accomplishment of Quality Improvement. Produces radiographic imaging and assists Radiologists in Interventional Procedures. Provides recommendations to Radiology Management to enhance patient care and department advancement. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an AMA School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Minimum of two years experience as a staff technologist.
  • Currently active ARRT and New Jersey licensed.
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.
  • Supervisory and Interventional Radiology experience required
  • Patient imaging experience with IR fixed equipment carm and portable

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • NJ DEP License required.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Monday through Friday with Holidays and on call
  • Full Time

Essential Functions:

  • Directs patient care in a manner that provides the highest standard of care.
  • Coordinates and directs activities of staff.
  • Provides frequent updates to staff on policy and regulatory changes.
  • Informs staff of areas of improvement, patient complaints and collaborates on corrective actions.
  • Monitors staff adherence to infection control, safety, radiation protection and code standards.
  • Participates in HCAPS initiatives.
  • Effectively manages day to day operations of the division
  • Verifies that all images are of optimal quality and correctly labeled per policy and procedure manual.
  • Schedules staff to provide adequate coverage for expedient service and assumes duties as needed.
  • Mediates individual problems relating to staffing, morale, scheduling, work methods and other actions regarding assigned personnel.
  • Identifies and corrects problems.
  • Determines the priority of patient flow for the division.
  • Promotes staff effectiveness by role modeling and goal setting.
  • Assists radiologist in performing procedures.
  • Provides coverage as needed.
  • Maintains clinical competencies necessary to provide for the provision of care and staff development
  • Participates in on going education.
  • Recommends corrective action for improving technical and administrative procedures through problem identification, data collection and analysis, follow up and documentation.
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
  • Promotes and maintains the quality of imaging
  • Prepares appropriate materials for educational workshops and conducts ongoing training, inservices and orientation.
  • Reviews images for quality and mentors new technologists.
  • Seeks additional training in division specific modality.
  • Reviews protocols and images to improve performance.
  • Communicates and seeks approval with Director of Imaging Services and Radiology.
  • Section Chief any problems, changes and/or activities within the section.
