We employ 3,200+ team members and serve the region with over 40 clinic locations, the region's only Level II trauma center, and five Centers of Excellence - the Washington Regional J.B. Hunt Transport Services Neuroscience Institute; Washington Regional Walker Heart Institute; Washington Regional Women and Infants Center; Washington Regional Total Joint Center; and Washington Regional Pat Walker Center for Seniors.
The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist reports to the Assistant Director, Cardiac Cath Lab. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care and technical support during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. The technologist assists physicians and the care team by preparing patients, maintaining sterile technique, operating imaging and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, scrubbing and circulating during procedures, and monitoring patient status throughout the procedure. This role supports safe, efficient, high-quality care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and related cardiovascular procedures.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, supplies, and patients for diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures by scrubbing, circulating, and supporting sterile technique in accordance with department standards.
- Operate and maintain imaging, fluoroscopy, hemodynamic monitoring, and related cath lab equipment within scope of practice and training.
- Monitor patient condition during procedures, recognize changes in patient status, and promptly communicate concerns to the physician and care team.
- Assist with patient positioning, preparation, transport, and post-procedure room turnover to support safe and efficient patient flow.
- Document procedure-related information accurately and support appropriate charge capture, image management, and clinical record completion.
- Maintain required competencies, radiation safety practices, infection prevention standards, and department policies related to cardiac cath lab operations.
- Collaborate professionally with physicians, nurses, technologists, patients, families, and other members of the care team.
- Participate in emergency response and life-saving measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, as appropriate.
- Participate in on-call coverage according to the established department call schedule, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program
- Licensure and Certifications: Arkansas Radiology Tech license or RCIS, required. ARRT registry required within 1 year. BLS, required. ACLS required within 3 months of hire.
- Experience: Previous experience in an acute care setting or in a radiology setting, preferred.
Work Environment: This position will spend 90% of the time walking and/or standing while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 10% of the time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position will be exposed to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and radiation. This position serves a cultural and linguistically diverse patient population.
