The Lead Cardiac Invasive Lab Tech will assist the manager with day to day operations including: provides direction and guidance to the work unit personnel; acts as a liaison between staff and supervisor, communicating information and work assignments to others in the unit; provides analysis of the work process to improve outcomes and services; serves as a resource, trainer and mentor; is responsible for scheduling to ensure adequate staffing to support programs in areas of assignment; attends appropriate meetings to gain and share necessary information and completes special projects and other duties as assigned. 
Oversees the cardiac lab technical schedule and daily activities within the department. Reorganizes daily schedule based on technical staff needs. Monitors procedure rooms and redirects staff to make sure staffing needs are met. Authorizes shift changes, early staff departures, and future PTO requests. Uses effective leadership, judgment and problem solving skills in a teamwork environment. Maintains a high level of expertise in the use of all equipment in the area. Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff and patients. In addition to these duties, the Lead Tech provides leadership, builds commitment, educates and trains personnel in the work area and generates feedback. 
Fulfills all requirements of the Cardiac Invasive Lab Tech job description, expected to be competent in any specialty procedures within assigned lab. Maintains flexibility and may be required to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.

Three (3) years of experience as a Cardiac Invasive Lab Technician. Demonstrated interest in leadership. 

Licensure or Certification:

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification required. If a Radiology Technologist (RT) Tech, must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and either have Advanced Cardiac-Interventional exam or RCIS/RCES certification. 

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
