What you'll do at IP Corporation as a Sr. Chemist:

This position is responsible for developing unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins for use in fiber reinforced plastics. This position also plays a key role in the development and improvement of polyester and vinyl ester processing and has responsibility for projects that lead to product qualification by the customer and implementation of technology transfer to manufacturing.

What you’ll bring to IP Corporation:

  • BS/BA Degree in chemistry, polymer, or material science.
  • 5 + years of industrial R&D experience within a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in project management, experimental design, and other problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to travel 10%
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and must be able to pass a Respirator Test.

Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Experience with polymer synthesis, characterization of polymers and composites, and knowledge of surface science.
  • Experience in polymer characterization by physical and chemical methods.
  • Knowledge of unsaturated polyesters and vinyl esters or other similar thermoset resins and coatings.
  • Knowledge of fillers and additives used in the formulation of composite materials.
  • Demonstrated an interest and capability to direct the work of others to achieve successful project outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Perform all required activities in a manner deemed to be safe and with minimal risk to self and co-workers.
  • Participate in laboratory work activities involving polymer development, quality control, materials evaluation, and matching of competitive products.
  • Respond properly and quickly to inquiries, either directly to the customer, to sales, or to the supervisor, regarding technical problems or matters.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to the Director of Research and Development or other appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities neat and orderly to maximize employee efficiency and productivity.
  • Accurate and timely record-keeping, with recommendations for further laboratory efforts.
