City of Galveston Summer Internship Program 2026
General Information
The City of Galveston is excited to announce the launch of its 2026 Summer Internship Program! This program seeks individuals who are looking to:
  • Develop valuable job skills
  • Clarify their career direction
  • Gain hands-on experience to complement their degree requirements

Interns will work a minimum of twenty-nine hours per week over a continuous 10-week period, running from late May to mid-July. This is a paid internship, but interns are not entitled to any additional benefits offered to City employees.
To enhance the overall experience, the program includes:
  • On-the-job training
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Strategic engagement
  • Performance evaluation and feedback

Program Outline
Interns will have the opportunity to work in one of the following City departments:
  • City Management
  • Finance
  • Community Outreach (including Communications, Media, Parks & Recreation, Special Events, Arts & Culture)
  • Engineering

Each department offers unique projects and assignments designed to give interns a broad understanding of local government operations.
Through the City's Summer Internship Program, participants can:

  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old
