Committed to being a trusted voice of light and knowledge, KSL helps Utahns stay informed, connected, and engaged with the issues that matter most.Position OverviewThe Social Media Producer is responsible for creating, publishing, and optimizing content across all KSL social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Threads, and emerging channels. This role plays a key part in growing audience, increasing engagement, supporting newsroom priorities, and ensuring KSL’s social presence reflects strong journalism and brand identity.The producer collaborates closely with News, Digital, Creative Services/Marketing, Promotions, and the broader social team to translate daily content, enterprise stories, special projects, and initiatives into compelling, platform-native posts.Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.This position is an hybrid role that requires the employee to sometimes work at our Salt Lake City site. Specific hybrid schedules will be determined based on business needs and evaluated by managers and senior management. Employee will need to be on-site during the training period.What You Will Do: Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:Daily Content Production Produce and publish social posts across all platforms, including:  Headlines, captions, and teases Vertical and horizontal video Graphics and thumbnails Reels, TikToks, Shorts, carousels, and live updates Create and monitor live streams on YouTube and Facebook Package newsroom content (breaking news, enterprise, features) into engaging social formats. Platform Management & Scheduling Maintain daily posting cadence across KSL’s social accounts. Monitor posts for accuracy, engagement, and community response. Looking for opportunities to live stream.  Participate in real-time coverage for breaking news and major events. Audience Engagement & Community Management Respond appropriately to user comments when needed; escalate issues for moderation. Identify engagement opportunities and trends that align with brand safety and editorial standards. Trend Monitoring & Creative Development Track emerging trends, formats, audio, and platform features across all networks. Pitch social-first ideas and series that reflect KSL priorities and audience interest. Collaboration & Cross-Department Support Work with reporters, producers, and editors to build social versions of stories. Support branding, promotions, and station campaigns with social content. Assist in producing social deliverables for special projects or advertiser campaigns as assigned. Analytics & Best Practices Review platform insights to understand what topics and formats perform best. Apply best practices for timing, format, thumbnails, hooks, and retention. Contribute performance insights in team meetings. Skills and Experience We Are Looking For: Required 1–3 years of experience in social media, digital content creation, or video production. Proven ability to create content for multiple social platforms in a professional or brand setting. Strong writing and editing skills tailored to social platforms. Experience with basic video editing and graphic tools (CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.). Solid understanding of best practices for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. Ability to work quickly and calmly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Flexibility to work occasional nights, weekends, or holidays for major news events or station priorities. Preferred Experience working in a newsroom or media organization. Knowledge of Utah, local issues, and KSL’s audience. Familiarity with social analytics tools (native insights, YouTube Studio, etc.). Comfort appearing on-camera occasionally (not required but a plus). Physical Demands Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.Lift, move, and carry up to 30 pounds on occasion.Compensation  $16.00 - $20.00 an hour.
