Job description

Description:

Role Summary

The Field Engineer provides technical support and engineering oversight across Destructable's active wind farm decommissioning and blade processing projects. Working closely with the Superintendent and Civil Superintendent, this role bridges the gap between office planning and field execution — managing project documentation, quantity tracking, quality control, and technical problem solving on the ground. The ideal candidate is an early-career engineer who is eager to get their hands dirty, thrives in a fast-paced field environment, and wants to grow with a company doing meaningful work.

Key Responsibilities

Project Documentation & Controls

  • Maintain and distribute current project drawings, specifications, and site plans to field teams
  • Track daily quantities, production rates, and material usage against project budgets and schedules
  • Assist with preparation and submission of daily field reports, quantity reports, and progress updates to project leadership
  • Support the preparation of requests for information (RFIs), submittals, and other project correspondence
  • Maintain organized and accurate project files, logs, and records for each active site

Field Technical Support

  • Provide on-site technical support to field crews, interpreting drawings and specifications and resolving field conditions as they arise
  • Assist with site layout, grade checking, and survey verification to ensure work is performed to plan
  • Conduct quality control inspections of civil work, blade processing operations, and site restoration activities
  • Support crane and lift planning activities by reviewing load calculations and lift plans for accuracy
  • Identify constructability issues early and work with the Superintendent to develop practical solutions

Scheduling & Cost Tracking

  • Assist project leadership in developing and maintaining project schedules using standard scheduling tools
  • Monitor project progress against schedule milestones and flag variances to the Superintendent
  • Track and code field costs including labor hours, equipment usage, and material quantities
  • Support subcontractor coordination including scope review, daily oversight, and quantity verification

Safety & Compliance

  • Participate in daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and pre-task planning sessions
  • Assist the Safety Specialist in maintaining site safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance logs
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA standards, environmental permit requirements, and company SOPs
  • Support permitting and regulatory compliance activities for each project location

Communication & Reporting

  • Serve as a reliable communication link between field crews and project leadership on technical and documentation matters
  • Prepare and submit accurate daily and weekly field reports to the project team
  • Participate in project meetings, progress calls, and post-project reviews
  • Travel to assigned sites on rotation; lodging and per diem provided
Requirements:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 0–3 years of experience in a field engineering, project engineering, or construction management role — new graduates with relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and survey data
  • Willingness to travel extensively with 2–4 week site rotations
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred

  • Internship or field experience in civil construction, wind energy, or industrial operations
  • Familiarity with project scheduling software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar)
  • Experience with quantity takeoff and cost tracking
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
