Chick-fil-A West Acres is a locally owned and operated restaurant located in Fargo, ND. The purpose of Chick-fil-A is to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us, and to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A. At Chick-fil-A West Acres, our vision is to serve with excellence and make an impact, one by one. We believe even something as simple as a chicken sandwich can be used as a tool to bring people together, build relationships, and create meaningful impact in our community.

Program Overview

The Chick-fil-A West Acres Community Development & Leadership Internship Program is an immersive summer experience designed to develop young leaders through hands-on operational excellence, leadership training, mentorship, and meaningful community impact.

This internship is built for individuals who desire real-world professional growth, leadership development, and a deeper understanding of how business can be used as a tool to serve people and strengthen a community.

Program Duration

June 8 – August 1: Interns will have the ability to travel during some Sunday and Monday time frames. However, interns will be strongly encouraged to remain in Fargo, ND throughout the program to fully engage in the community development component, build meaningful relationships, and maximize the overall internship experience.

Internship Structure

Interns will participate in a structured weekly schedule combining restaurant operations, leadership development, and community engagement.

Weekly Time Commitment: 45 Hours Total

1) Operations & Professional Development (35 hours/week)

Interns will work directly inside Chick-fil-A West Acres, gaining exposure to day-to-day restaurant operations while learning what it means to lead with excellence in a high-performing environment. Interns will contribute by:

  • Supporting daily restaurant operations
  • Supporting the current directors in developing systems and workflows to improve efficiency
  • Learning the hospitality industry
  • Choosing from different sectors of the restaurant business and learning from restaurant leaders (Marketing, Finances, Operations, Food Safety, Community Engagement, Training)
  • Contributing to projects that enhance operational excellence

2) Leadership & Mentorship Training (5-10 hours/week)

Interns will receive intentional leadership training and mentorship each week, including learning sessions with leaders from a variety of sectors such as:

  • Military
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Banking and financial services
  • Technology and Science
  • Accounting
  • Farming and agriculture
  • Religious and community organizations

Interns will also have the opportunity to serve alongside local charities and partner with organizations throughout Fargo. Through these community partnerships, interns will gain firsthand experience in what it means to be a leader beyond the workplace by serving people, building relationships, and contributing to the needs of the city. This component of the program is designed to help interns understand that leadership is not just influence or position, but responsibility and service. Interns will be challenged to think intentionally about how to make a tangible impact in a community and how business can be used as a platform to strengthen and uplift others.

Discipleship & Life-on-Life Community Component

Housing will be provided through a host family who will intentionally invest in interns through life-on-life mentorship, discipleship, and community-building. Host parents are working professionals with backgrounds in financial planning and community development, and they will help create a structured environment centered on growth, accountability, and relational development.

All interns will live together in the same housing, building a strong community through shared daily life. Interns will room in pairs, with two interns assigned per room, while living alongside the host parents. This living arrangement is designed to foster unity, encourage meaningful relationships, and provide an experience of intentional community throughout the duration of the internship.

Qualifications

This internship is designed for individuals who are willing to work hard, serve others, and grow through real-world responsibility. The restaurant environment is fast-paced and demanding, and interns should be prepared to embrace the grind that comes with operational excellence and leadership development. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate:

• High school graduate or currently enrolled college student

• Strong work ethic and willingness to embrace the intensity of restaurant operations

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with long periods of standing, movement, and teamwork

• Humility and coachability with a desire to learn and grow

• A heart for serving others and investing in the local community

• Interest in leadership development and personal growth

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment

• Strong character, integrity, and personal responsibility

• Interest in community development, mentorship, and service

• Alignment with the mission and values of Chick-fil-A
