ROLE SUMMARY
This role is for you if you are passionate about developing people, believe in the power of play, and enjoy gathering performance data. The nature of this position centers around our part-time employees who deliver on our player experience standards. Our business is out on the field, so be prepared to spend time out at leagues interacting with our players and our staff. You will lead our local staffing leads on building a vibrant host community dedicated to delivering the best player experience in Baltimore. Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
  • Standardizing platforms and resources to ensure success
    • Use project management tools to structure, assign, and keep staffing on track throughout their part-time staff management cycle
    • Lead the implementation of local recruitment, training, evaluation, and culture best practices for our part-time employees
    • Overseeing that the Baltimore market has all shifts covered for league & event staff - including hosts and refs, and each shift is updated in the scheduling software at least two weeks in advance
    • Work in conjunction with the Product team to fill in open or last minute shifts
    • Update scheduling software to reflect the completion of shifts & support payroll as needed

  • Recruitment, retention, and appreciation efforts for Part-Time staff, and Interns.
    • Lead processes of recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and evaluating part-time talent to run our leagues and events
    • Lead initiatives for engagement and supportincluding pre-season training, mid-season check-ins, and end-of-season celebrations
    • Work in conjunction with the product team to review and analyze Staff feedback
    • Grow the part time staff community and culture through special perks and events
    • Lead initiatives focused on culture, diversity, and inclusion as they relate to part-time staff including but not limited to:
      • Volo Awards: Part-Time Staff Awards typically hosted in Q4 celebrating the wins of the year recognizing local and national top performers
      • Volo Games: Part-Time Staff Appreciation Field Day
      • Works with the Senior Product Experience Manager on the management of the annual P/T experience budget, by city. Any adjustments are brought to the City Director for approval.

  • Sports Product
    • Assure quality control and strength of programs through site visits and serve as a support for programs whenever necessary
      • Build relationships with part-time staff through site visits, event engagement, and appreciation programs
      • Oversee the implementation of open-communication and feedback mechanisms for part-time staff
      • Spearhead league audits & evaluations to achieve NPS KPIs
      • Review program ratings and take corrective action through the part-time staff with support from Baltimore market directors and Sport Coordinators
      • Track the needs of each site and work with the Logistics team to improve throughout the season
      • Work with the Product team to support the surprise and delight player appreciation program as well as captain loyalty initiatives with the support of the Logistics team.
      • Manage the responsibilities around part-time staff communication platforms and processes
      • Work in conjunction with the Sports Product team to best staff programs, leagues, and events etc.

DESIRED SKILLS + EXPERIENCE
  • Experience managing a large customer-facing part-time staff workforce
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of in person staffing experience, preferably part-time non-exempt workforce
  • Familiarity with the social sports industry (as a player or employee) and its typical schedule and calendar
  • Experience in sport or event management and/or business development capacity
  • Experience working on the fly with last minute changes, needs or support
  • Strong ability to execute in a cross-functional and startup environment
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Can marshal resources effectively and comfortably navigate a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dynamic personality interested in working in, and contributing to, the industry leader in adult recreational sports
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
