Who You Are
As a Technical Project Estimator, you will sit at the critical intersection of business development, engineering, and execution. You will drive our pricing strategy, evaluate technical risk, and build accurate bottom-up cost estimates for complex water treatment and process systems.
You will analyze client specifications, collect technical requirements, evaluate bid/no bid opportunities, and compile comprehensive cost models (material, labor, vendor quotes). You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and finance to quantify risk, and define scope boundaries.
Key Responsibilities
Bid/No-Bid Decisioning & Risk Assessment
  • Lead technical and financial risk evaluations to support executive Bid/No-Bid decision-making.
  • Assess project technical feasibility, shop capacity, schedule constraints, and cost drivers against company capability and profitability targets.
  • Formulate risk mitigation strategies and translate technical uncertainties into quantified cost contingencies.

Cost Estimating & Financial Analysis
  • Develop comprehensive, bottom-up cost estimates for custom equipment, process piping, skid assemblies, and turnkey systems-including direct labor, materials, equipment, tooling, and subcontractor costs.
  • Establish contingency, overhead, and margin recommendations based on detailed risk profiles and technical complexity.

Requirement Gathering & Scope Definition
  • Review and analyze client RFPs, technical specifications, P&IDs, 3D models, and scope documents to extract precise technical requirements.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure alignment with project quality standards and client specifications.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering or other related field. Experience in lieu of degree to be considered.
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in project estimating, technical project management, or application engineering within a custom equipment manufacturing or industrial/operations plant environment.
  • Technical Acumen: Ability to read, interpret, and estimate costs directly for P&IDs, fabrication drawings, material take-offs, and client technical specifications.
