We are seeking an experienced Diesel Technician with fabrication experience to join our Ocala service team. This role focuses on accessorizing and upfitting fire trucks with sirens, lighting systems, and specialty equipment on Class 6, 7, 8 & 9 medium-, heavy-, and severe-duty trucks.
You'll earn a competitive hourly wage (not flat rate) plus performance incentives - because quality workmanship should be rewarded without cutting corners.

Responsibilities
  • Review work orders, assess vehicle issues thoroughly, and create a repair plan
  • Inspect suspension, steering, electrical systems, engines, transmissions, brakes, and related components
  • Fabricate and install aftermarket upfitting kits (sirens, lights, specialty equipment)
  • Read and interpret schematics and blueprints for accessory installations
  • Maintain accurate records of parts replaced and services performed
  • Communicate additional service needs for authorization
  • Document repairs using the Three C's: Customer Complaint, Cause, Correction
  • Adhere strictly to OEM policies, warranty documentation, labor operations, and torque specifications
  • Update repair advocate and case files throughout the shift
  • Communicate repair status to the Service Supervisor before shift end
  • Return completed work order packets with keys at end of shift
  • Complete required OEM and technical training within designated timeframes
  • Maintain an organized, clean workspace
  • Ensure vehicles are returned to customers in clean, professional condition
  • Treat customers, visitors, and team members with respect and courtesy

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience working on first responder trucks (primarily fire trucks)
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints for fabrication and aftermarket accessory installation
  • ASE certifications and OEM training are a plus (we are willing to train the right candidate)
  • Your own roll tool cart and tool set is advised
  • Professional, team-oriented mindset with strong commitment to customer service
  • Valid driver's license with ability to obtain a CDL
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check, MVR, and drug screening
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stoop, bend, climb, crawl, lift, reach, and work in various positions required to service diesel trucks
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, or moderately noisy environments
