As an Apple Support Technician, you'll play a vital role in keeping technology running smoothly for faculty, staff, and students across campus. From installing and configuring Apple devices to diagnosing hardware and software issues, you'll provide hands-on support that helps the university community stay connected, productive, and successful.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Installs and configures Apple computer hardware, operating systems, and applications.
  • Troubleshoots application and system problems and diagnoses and solves hardware or software faults.
  • Follows diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system and replaces parts as required.
  • Tests and evaluates new technology.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree in Information Technology or a related field plus one year of experience directly related to the Summary of Duties; OR any combination of higher education and work experience totaling three years, two years of which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties.
For Example:
  • Associate degree + 1 year of related experience
  • OR bachelor's degree in a related field + related internship or work experience
  • OR three years of related professional experience in web operations, e-commerce, website maintenance, or digital content management
  • OR one year of college coursework in a related field + two years of directly related work experience
  • OR two years of college coursework in a related field + one year of directly related work experience

Licenses/Certifications:
Apple Certified Macintosh Technician desired, but will train if not already certified.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Working knowledge of the Mac operating system.
  • Knowledge of supporting various software packages, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of configuring computer hardware, operating systems and applications.
  • Skills in working continuously on a task until completion.
  • Skills in talking with staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the telephone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
  • Skills in rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals.
  • Ability to test and evaluate new technology.
  • Ability to follow diagrams and writteninstructions to repair a fault or set up a system, replacing parts as required.
  • Able to troubleshoot system and network problems and diagnose and solve hardware or software faults.
