Job Description

Position Summary
The Gross Profit Task Force Intern will support strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract administration, supply chain operations, new product development (NPD), and continuous improvement initiatives across the Urology & Critical Care (UCC) business. The internship provides exposure to the full procurement lifecycle, including supplier selection, RFQ management, supplier onboarding, contract analysis, spend analysis, forecasting, logistics coordination, and business process improvement.


The intern will lead and support projects that drive cost savings, gross profit improvement, supply continuity, operational efficiency, and knowledge management while collaborating with Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal, Marketing, and external suppliers.


This position is designed for a highly motivated self-starter with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and excellent communication abilities. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience managing real-world sourcing and supply chain projects while developing business acumen in a global medical device manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Support sourcing activities for direct materials, components, assemblies, finished goods, and services.

  • Assist with development, issuance, and analysis of Requests for Quotation (RFQs).

  • Conduct supplier market research, benchmarking, and supplier identification activities.

  • Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and vendor setup activities.

  • Maintain regular communication with suppliers regarding quotations, contracts, lead times, and performance expectations.

  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, commercial terms, payment terms, and Incoterms.

  • Assist with supplier risk assessments and supplier health scorecards.


Procurement & Contract Management

  • Support drafting, administration, and tracking of Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), and supplier contracts.

  • Assist in maintaining contract repositories and contract management databases.

  • Track contract expiration dates, amendments, and key obligations.

  • Support coordination between Procurement, Legal, and supplier stakeholders.


Data Analytics & Business Intelligence

  • Analyze supplier spend, pricing trends, PPV (Purchase Price Variance), forecasting data, and procurement metrics.

  • Develop cost savings analyses and business cases supporting sourcing decisions.

  • Perform Make-vs-Buy analyses and strategic sourcing evaluations.

  • Create reports, dashboards, scorecards, and executive-level summaries using Excel and other business tools.

  • Support supplier performance and operational KPI reporting.


New Product Development (NPD) Support

  • Participate in NPD sourcing activities supporting new product launches.

  • Assist with supplier and component familiarization activities.

  • Support material sourcing and supplier engagement for development projects.

  • Coordinate sample requests, prototype sourcing, and shipment activities.


Supply Chain & Operations Support

  • Assist with domestic and international logistics activities.

  • Support shipment coordination, customs clearance activities, and trade compliance processes.

  • Participate in forecasting and inventory-related initiatives.

  • Support manufacturing and supply chain continuity projects.

  • Assist in development of sourcing models and savings calculators.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Create process maps and workflow documentation for procurement and supply chain activities.

  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.

  • Develop standard work instructions, user guides, and training materials.

Qualifications
Required

  • Ability to present findings to stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools.

  • Exposure to manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, or business operations through coursework, projects, or prior internships.
