About ThedaCare!
Summary :
The Polysomnographic Technologist performs routine and complex procedures, analysis, and scoring of diagnostic testing that may include sleep and EEG studies using a variety of techniques and equipment. Utilizes best practices as identified from professional organizations (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) to ensure optimal quality, competency, safety, and patient experience.
Job Description:
Schedule: 730pm to 630am. Paid lunches
Location: Encircle Health with occasional travel to Shawno and Berlin
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Demonstrates age-specific competency in the evaluation of the patient for readiness. Educates the patient, conducts diagnostic testing, and provides analysis for the referring provider.
  • Interprets and communicates with referring provider regarding patient status and treatment response to provide best practice and continuity of care.
  • Is accountable for completion of department and ThedaCare annual competencies and education to meet license requirements. Participates and completes quality measures for inter-scoring reliability.
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation of services in accordance with professional and compliance standards to best reflect the patient's status and needs, support the revenue cycle, and facilitate communication for continuity of care.
  • Demonstrates responsible actions and initiative to positively impact patient access to care, and contributes to the department's financial performance.
  • Provides education and mentoring for students, interns, residents, observers, volunteers, and/or new team members to support their development.
  • Develops and/or implements clinical activities that improve or expand services within the healthcare system to benefit patient care.
  • Adheres to ThedaCare infection control and quality guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree from AMA-approved respiratory therapy school and/or completion of accredited polysomnographic technician program
  • Respiratory Therapist or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist ( RPSCT) • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of Fifty (50) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Occasional exposure to sharp objects and instruments
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
  • Occasional high noise level in work environment
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
  • Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients
